South Carolina could produce 70,000MW of electricity from offshore wind energy, 4X more than all of the existing generation capacity in the state. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates South Carolina will install between 1,000MW and 3,000MW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.

Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) has launched a new website, AdvancedEnergyNOW.net, to illustrate the scope of the advanced energy industry. The site draws on the findings of a report released this month by AEE showing that advanced energy was a $1.1 trillion global market in 2011, larger than pharmaceutical manufacturing worldwide.
